On Saturday, February 1st, the Eagle softball program hosted it’s annual four team round robin scrimmage, with Florence, Rogers and China Spring.
In games one and two of the day v. Florence and Rogers the Eagles were able to get in some quality work for the younger players in the program. In both games, solid pitching and timely hitting helped the younger Eagle team outscore both visitors. For the morning games there were a lot of bright spots. The Eagle coaches were very pleased with the execution offensively by the younger Eagle squad.
Game three of the day saw a mix of returning letter-men and a few younger girls take on a well coached China Spring squad. China Spring would use some big hits and aggressive base running to outscore the host team by a score of 5-1. The Eagles lone run coming on a solo home run off the bat of senior Piper Randolph.
On Tuesday, February 4th, fourteen Eagle softballers traveled over to Harker Hts. to take on the Heights JV and Varsity squads. The Eagle split squads were able to outscore the host Lady Knights by 15-0 and 9-0 scores. In the first game the Eagles were able to run the bases aggressively and get timely hits. The biggest of the game came from sophomore Emory Craddick with a bases clearing triple. Dorislynn Edmonson earned the start and win in game one. The Night cap saw the Varsity Eagles start slow offensively, but used both a solid pitching performance for sophomore pitcher Lainey Taylor and a stout defense until the bats were able to come alive. All around the nine in batting order were able to perform well led by Senior Erin Faske (3-3) and Junior Rylee Oborski with a two run home run. The group also ran the bases well which led to runners getting into scoring position and hitters bringing them home for nine runs.
