The first place Lady Eagles had a big match-up Tuesday night in a rematch against the Lake Belton Lady Broncos. Salado squeaked out a five set victory in Lake Belton in the first meeting. The visitors would strike first against Salado with a 20-25 victory. Set 2 was dead even until the Red Posse came alive and finished out a 25-19 win. It would be all Salado after that as the Lady Eagles cruised to 25-14 and 25-16 victories to close out the match. OH Kenslee Konarik and Lainey Taylor would lead the offensive attack for the Lady Eagles collecting 23 combined kills. Senior captain Reese Preston stepped up and exemplified leadership on the floor when the Lady Eagles were down. Preston finished with 19 assists and 12 digs. Salado improves to 7-1 in district and will look to clinch a first place finish next week at Burnet and home vs Gateway Prep.
Salado’s JV squad came out sluggish in the first set falling behind late 14-25, but would come back to win 25-23. The second set would be much more comfortable for the Lady Eagles as they completed the straight sets victory with a 25-19 win.
After a rough showing in their first match-up, the freshmen Lady Eagles were determined for the rematch to be a different story. Despite falling behind 10-18 in the first set, the young Lady Eagles scratched their way to a 25-21 victory. The second set would be a similar result, but Salado would erase a 14-21 lead to complete another phenomenal comeback 25-23.
