Hope everyone is doing well and staying safe and healthy. I know we are all ready to get back to school and competition! I wish I had some positive news for you and some return to play dates for you but we still don’t have those at this time. I will keep you posted as soon as we get word from UIL when we can return to practice/play/competition. Right now per UIL the earliest would be May 4th for athletic contests to resume. I am hopeful that at some point we are able to resume the spring 2020 competitions and please understand that the schedules would probably be abbreviated but we remain hopeful and UIL is doing a great job with being optimistic that we will be able to continue play at some point this spring and give the student-athletes some sort of season. I know this is a difficult and unprecedented time but keep a positive outlook and remain hopeful!
I wanted to at a minimum keep everyone updated on information from UIL. They have since posted the new district alignments for the upcoming year.
You can find all classification realignments here: https://www.uiltexas.org/alignments
Salado HS Athletics will compete in Region 3 for all sports.
For Cross Country, Volleyball, Basketball, Golf, Tennis, Track, Baseball, and Softball we will be in Region 3/ District 19.
The teams in our district are as follows: Burnet, Gateway, Jarrell, Lake Belton, Salado, and Taylor.
For Football we will be in Region 3/ District 9.
The teams in our district are as follows: China Spring, Gatesville, Jarrell, Robinson, Salado, Waco Connally.
For Soccer we will be in Region 3/ District 18.
The teams in our district are as follows: Burnet, Gatesville, Jarrell, Lake Belton, Lampasas, Salado, Florence, Academy.
Remember UIL only has 3 classifications for Soccer (4A,5A,6A) so any school that is smaller than 4A plays up in 4A.
For Wrestling we will be in Region 3/ District 10.
The teams in our district are as follows: Bryan Rudder, College Station, A&M Consolidated, Georgetown, Georgetown Eastview, Pflugerville, Pflugerville Connally, Pflugerville Hendrickson, Pflugerville Weiss, Lampasas, Salado, Cameron Yoe.
For Wrestling, UIL only has 2 classifications (5A,6A) so any school that is smaller than a 5A must wrestle in 5A districts (Lampasas and Salado both 4A, Cameron Yoe is 3A).
Once again I hope that everyone is staying safe and healthy and doing your part. Keep the kids hopeful and optimistic as much as possible and encourage them to keep up the good work with their school work. Continue to encourage your students to remain active and working out at home as much as possible! We know they are ready to get back to school, see friends, teachers, coaches and get back to doing what they love doing!
Please let me know if you have any questions and I will keep everyone updated as I get information.
I will send out Athletic Summer Camp information and information on physicals for next year as soon as I can but at this time we aren’t sure when we could schedule those or if/when we can hold the summer camps.
