Varsity – The Lady Eagles came ready to play Tuesday night putting away the Lady Ducks of Taylor in four sets (25-22, 25-22, 16-25, 25-22). The Senior passers, Breigh Oliver and Erin Faske would lay the foundation for Salado to have a big night at the net. Oliver and Faske would frustrate Taylor hitters all night. Lainey Taylor would also give the Lady Duck hitters trouble being a wall at the net.
JV Red – The Salado JV Red team defeated the Lady Ducks in three sets (25-17. 24-26, 25-19). Salado would jump out to a 1-0 match lead after a hot start from Freshman, Holly Giesecke, who had 5 kills and 4 assists in the first set. Taylor’s scrappy defense would respond in the second set, fending off a late Salado comeback attempt fueled by Middle Blocker, Kenslee Konarik. Konarik would finish with 6 kills and 3 blocks on the night. Set three would be a back-and-forth match. Down 17-18, the Lady Eagles would step their game up in crunch time, putting Taylor away 25-19.
JV White – The JV White squad handled Taylor in straight sets with scores of 25-20 and 25-21. Led by outside hitters, Makayla Bush and Emma Grant, who totaled 14 kills together, would prove to be too much for the Lady Ducks to overcome.
The Varsity and JV Red improved to 3-1 in district play. JV White evened their district record to 2-2. Salado Volleyball is back at home on Friday (10/11) against the Burnet Bulldogs where they’ll look to get a firm hold of second place heading into the second round of district match ups.
