Eagles News · Lady Eagles Lose a Tough One at “Home” to Burnet

What was scheduled to be the final home game tonight against the Lady Bulldogs of Burnet began with a quick relocation to Salado Junior High School due to a water main break.  The relocation didn’t put a damper on the intensity and importance of tonight’s game.  Senior Night always heightens the emotion of a game, and tonight was no different.  The Lady Eagles honored their three senior players Corban Mescher, Lexi Lima, and Nicole Pettigrew, as well as, the senior manager Maddy Mantanona.

The Lady Eagles started slow but finished the half with a two point lead following the strong defensive play of Jasey Goings and Lexi Lima.  At the end of the third quarter, the Lady Eagles were in position to put the Lady Bulldogs away, but a few key misses at the rim and costly turnovers in the fourth quarter were more than the Lady Eagles could overcome.  The Burnet Lady Bulldogs took advantage and ended the game with a 54-40 victory.  Kaia Philen led Salado with 11 points, and Lorena Perez led with seven rebounds.

The Lady Eagles are scheduled to play their first-round playoff game early next week against the Fredricksburg Billies with the day, time, and location to be determined later this week.
